Psychological Testing

At your initial visit, the psychologist will gather clinical history, background, and needs for testing so that your child can reach their potential. Following this visit, Dr. Marchante-Hoffman will recommend the type of testing visit needed to answer diagnostic questions and inform treatment and/or educational supports.

Comprehensive psychological testing is an in-depth evaluation of a child's mental health. This type of testing can include assessment of cognitive functioning, academic (if applicable), social and behavioral differences, emotional functioning, and adaptive skills. Dr. Marchante-Hoffman has extensive experience evaluating and diagnosing Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Learning Disorders, such as Dyslexia, and Intellectual Disability. This type of testing can help to clarify whether a particular diagnosis fits for your child. Each evaluation includes personalized recommendations for caregivers and school. 

Psychoeducational testing includes assessment of cognitive and academic skills. These evaluations help to inform educational support plans, such as Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). This type of testing is helpful to clarify diagnoses, such as Learning Disorders and Intellectual Disability. Each evaluation includes personalized recommendations for caregivers and school.

Gifted testing is a brief evaluation offered for families who would like to further assess their child's cognitive strengths. This testing may help to inform which school setting might be a good fit for your child. This service includes testing and a brief report. 

As a caregiver, you want to ensure your child receives the right support for their unique learning needs. If you disagree with your child's school evaluation, you have the right to request an Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE). An IEE offers an objective, comprehensive assessment conducted by a qualified professional outside the school system. Our evaluations provide valuable insights that help tailor educational plans and ensure your child receives the individualized services they need to succeed. These evaluations are available in English and Spanish. This cost is typically covered by the school district.
